Ray Ferguson Received the "Guiding Light Award"

Ray Ferguson, who has served as president of the chamber for the last several years, received the “Ray Ferguson Guiding Light Award.” Having an award named in his honor for years to come is such a well deserved recognition for all he has done for our community and chamber.

We had the opportunity to meet Shannon Armes and her family and learn more about the heart behind Skylar's Love Mission. Their mission is heartbreaking, but beautiful. After experiencing personal loss, they turned their pain into purpose by helping local families who are grieving the loss of a child or loved one.

Industry Day at Dinwiddie High School!

The SOVA Southern Virginia Chamber of Commerce was proud to speak with students about the importance of business connections, networking, and marketing.

Representing the Chamber were Ray Ferguson (President), John Brandt (Executive Director), Diane from The Village Shed, and Kelsey Conley (Social Media & Marketing) all sharing real-world insights into the value of community involvement and professional growth!

SOVA Chamber of Commerce

Ray Ferguson, owner of RVA Roofing Services/RoofMaxx and president of the SOVA Chamber of Commerce, joined us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the reopening of our local thrift store in Petersburg, VA. Congratulations to the Crater Community Hospice Thrift Store! We appreciate all your efforts to support our community, with all proceeds going toward helping families with patient care costs. The 2025 SOVA Chamber Annual Awards Dinner, hosted by Ray Ferguson, President of the Chamber and co-owner of RVA Roofing Services and Roof Maxx, celebrated remarkable members of our community.


During the event, Michael VanWyck, also co-owner of RVA Roofing Services and Roof Maxx in West Richmond, was honored with the Business Person of the Year award.
